Iva Lulashi is interested in examining, conveying, and sharing the cultural, historical and social heritage of the Albanian people from which she hails, convinced that to build up her own identity she must come to terms with her country’s recent history. To do so, she inserts into online search engines words related to the themes she wants to examine, and then selects from the videos and the websites thus identified individual frames that could constitute traces through which to investigate this legacy.

In Noi ci salveremo (I semi del tempo), two girls are dressed alike but end up in a dangerous pool of water. The myth of sameness, proper to the Albanian Socialist People’s Republic existing between 1976 and 1991, which their identical dresses allude to, is thus called into question, in line with the certainties intrinsic to them.

Iva Lulashi lives and works in Milan. In 2016 she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. She participated in workshops in Venice (Forte Marghera), Bruges (Het Entrepot), Salzburg (Nata Wien), Shkoder (Arthouse) and Milan (Viafarini in residence). She exhibited her works in various occasions such as: Biennale Mediterranea, Galeria kombtare e arteve, Tirana; Premio Francesco Fabbri, Villa Brandolini, Treviso; Premio Combat, Giovanni Fattori, Livorno; Frames, Villa Rondinelli, Archivio Porcinai, Fiesole; Where i feel, there i am, Miza Gallery, Tirana; Collezione Giuseppe Iannaccone, Milano; Love as a glass of water, Salzburger Kunstverein, Salzburg; L’arte è comunità, Collezione Fondazione San Patrignano, PART, Rimini; A volte penso che…, Ex chiesa di San Matteo, Lucca.
